Record music from wedding services

Licence: Wedding Video-Recording Licence (WVRL)

If you permit the use of audio/video equipment to record music at wedding services in uor church, then CCLI recommends that you ask the wedding couple, or professional videographer, to obtain a  Wedding Video-Recording Licence (WVRL), especially if they are not church members. 

If the wedding couple or professional videographer does not hold a WVRL, then you could allow the recordings to be made under your church's CCL (Church Copyright Licence) if you have one.  However, please note:

• Your church will be responsible for the recording and any use made of it following the service
• The cCL does not cover audio/video recordings made at receptions
• the CCL does not cover the recording of music played from a pre-recorded source, for example at the entrance of the bride or the signing of the register.
• The CCL does not permit pre-recorded music to be over-dubbed on the sound-track afterwards.
